Citra, FL (September 14, 2021) — Phoenix House Florida, a provider of both inpatient and outpatient substance use treatment, has been named as one of America’s Best Addiction Treatment Centers 2021 by Newsweek for its residential facility located in Citra, Florida. Published annually, this prestigious award highlights the nation’s top addiction treatment facilities based on peer recommendations, quality, and accreditations relative to in-state competition.
“We are thrilled and honored to be recognized by Newsweek as one of America’s Best Addiction Treatment Centers. Phoenix House Florida is dedicated to serving members of our communities to ensure they receive the best substance use and related mental health conditions treatment possible, so they can live healthier, more purposeful lives in recovery.” said Phoenix House Florida President & CEO, Maria Alvarez.
To create this list, Newsweek partnered with global research firm Statista to rank the 300 best U.S. treatment facilities that focus on addiction. The study focused on 25 states with the highest number of addiction treatment centers per the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Those offering inpatient/residential and long-term addiction treatment centers were included in the ranking, and long-term programs required a minimum residency of 30 days to be included in the study.
With an overall rating score of 87.10%, Phoenix House Florida’s Citra location ranked sixth on the list of the best centers in Florida. This score is calculated using a combination of factors including recommendations, a quality score, SAMHSA accreditation, and a reputation score. These scores were created using responses to a national survey which included thousands of verified medical experts (therapists, counselors, medical doctors, administration and staff working in addiction treatment facilities) via an online peer-to-peer survey.
“In recent years, driven by things like the opioid epidemic and expanded health insurance coverage, the demand for treatment has expanded significantly,” writes Newsweek Global Editor-in-Chief Nancy Cooper in a recent announcement. “Finding the right treatment facility, however, can be a challenge. As part of Newsweek’s commitment to reporting on all aspects of health care — most crucially, covering what new developments could mean for our readers — this year we partnered with global market research firm Statista Inc. to rank the 300 best U.S. treatment facilities that focus on addiction.”
The list was published on Aug. 18, 2021 and is available in full on Newsweek’s website.
