Phoenix House Florida Proposes Opening of Women-Focused Residential Treatment Facility in Hillsborough County, Sponsored By Senator Jay Collins, House Representative Danny Alvarez
Phoenix House Florida seeks to offer critical treatment and support for substance use and related mental health issues to women in Hillsborough County.
Tampa, Fla. – Phoenix House Florida is proposing the opening of a new Residential Drug Rehabilitation Facility focused on women whose children are in foster care and women veterans. This facility will include 20 private rooms, a vocational center, a playground, among other features. This facility will enable patients vital access to an otherwise unattainable continuum of care, mental health, and substance abuse treatment, peer support, supportive housing, family involvement, and provide resources to the community. Senator Jay Collins and House Representative Danny Alvarez are sponsoring the bill in the Florida legislature to open this vital Hillsborough County facility.
“We are here to help ensure that thorough and high-quality treatment for substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders is accessible to every woman in need,” said Maria Alvarez, President and CEO of Phoenix House Florida. “We are honored to have this opportunity to expand that care to help Veteran women and women with children in the foster care system, and we are deeply appreciative of the support from both Senator Collins and Representative Alvarez.”
